then inhale the spore direct from the vial. replace the stopper as the dust can become easily windborne (you will need the remainder when you reach the red door). its effects will not be immediately evident, so take a seat the stump under the large oak will offer the best vantage point. we are aware that the forest is intensely cold at this time of night and at this time of year but the spore will reduce any feelings of physical discomfort within the next few minutes. keep your gaze fixed on the holly bush by the footpath. you will now experience a fragmentation of sound and vision. you will see and hear moments in the forest at many junctures in time. the oak behind you will suddenly shrink to a sapling, the stump you are sitting on will appear to tower many feet above you (it is only an apparition you will not be impaled!). bushes, hedgerows and shrubs will bloom and wither around you and the sun and moon will criss-cross the sky like jets. from behind the holly bush will appear a black hare. he is outside time and will be unaffected by its slipping. do not be alarmed by his appearance. he will be grossly offended by any sign of revulsion or fear, so please compose yourself. also, avoid staring into his eyes as the hare is prone to mesmerism, often without noticing. however, do pay close attention to what he says. thanks to the effects of the spore you will understand his language but due to your extreme intoxication you will have enormous difficulty remembering it, so act on his instructions immediately. the hare's directions, depending on your speed and ability to gather yourself together, will take you to the 78th portal. you will then be thrown into a void. the void portal, which we will have touched upon at your orientation session, has been developed primarily to protect our staff. originally, at this point in the tour, you would have been transported to an annexe portal, but the effects of the spore made some contestants extremely volatile. you will find yourself suspended in complete darkness for approximately eight hours or until the spore has worn off, although we're afraid the concept of hours, or indeed time itself, will be quite unfathomable to you. we advise you to use this time to reflect on your purpose here, to think of the loved ones you have lost and how your efforts, and the words of the Resurrection Passage, will bring |
